Nothing gets better than being up close to the action and shooting these gladiators in full combat. I mean these guys have my respect for what they do, they don’t hold any of their punches and they literally do their best to take their opponents out. Everytime they go into the ring, they risk serious injury and they know it.
Being at ringside is an awesome experience, I could hear the punches and I can tell you that it is nothing like what we hear in the movies. The punches sounded more like bone hitting bone, I felt the pain seeing and hearing them.
I was assigned to shoot the action and had my camera to my eye most of the time, I didn’t want to miss a thing. For this shoot, like most of my other assignments, I used two cameras with two different lenses so I didn’t have to switch lenses any time at all. I just had to lift a different camera to my eye. And having two awesome cameras ( Canon’s 5D Mk II and 5D MK III ) made things so much easier 🙂
It was an awesome assignment and I throughly enjoyed this one 🙂
Here are some pictures of the preparations before the fights start:
And the fights began!!
The next fight between Rob Lisita and Choi Yeong Gwang was an awesome test of stamina and heart as both fighters put in all they had for the win.
The next fight between Ji Xian and Jack “The Flash” Gooderham was literally over in a flash as Ji Xian put in one of his explosive submission moves which quickly put Jack out of action.
